PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
June 2008 – Present
Director of Software Engineering, TIG Global
Hired to create a complex / large projects team & expertise within company. Began modernization of architecture & software solutions including use of CMS systems, XHTML & CSS built sites, and use of multiple off-shore and outsourced vendors for technical development. Responsibilities included setting policy for & identifying all client software & technology solutions, internal software & systems development, research & development, vendor relationships, and build process, response to RFPs, as well as assisting in direct sales.
- Assisted in winning over $2,000,000 in direct sales.
- Oversaw the development of country & area wide site builds such as Curacao.com, Capital Region USA, and the Top Ten Drives of the Northern Rockies.
- Modernized build process, reduced technical maintenance required for sites by 65% on average.
- Helped complete $400,000 internal software project to create real time reporting dashboard combining data from Yahoo, MSN-Bing, Google, Omniture Analytics, and proprietary internal tracking tools into a single seamless system.

Responsibilities included design & improvement of client technical infrastructures, and creating and maintaining vendor partnerships. Additional responsibilities included managing a staff of five, project leadership, project resource estimation, firm wide technology selection, staff professional development, sales pitches, assistance in responding to RFPs, technical development & execution, due diligence, and the creation and enforcement of best practices and standards.
- Chief technical architect and project lead of “America’s Power” clean coal technologies energy campaign. This $18,000,000+ project was a two year campaign with multiple web properties, vendors, and technologies, leveraging multiple partner firms and requiring sophisticated project management.
- Chief technical architect and project lead of http://www.hrc.org. This $1,200,000 project launched successfully in August, 2007 after 18 months or development, Mindshare’s largest project to date. Work included integration of multiple 3rd party vendors, legacy databases, and legacy content.
- Chief technical architect and project lead of the www.netlc.org website. This $500,000+ project was the largest single project in Mindshare’s history at the time, launched Sept, 2005. Work included integration with Adobe Breeze, Constant Contact, customized flash applications, and a customized multi-step workflow system.
- Helped design and deploy the eBay Mainstreet website for high capacity. This project was in support of the largest bulk email delivery in eBay’s history to over 7 million members as part of their Net Neutrality political advocacy campaign.

Architected & deployed Office of Research and Applications Division’s next generation automated satellite data processing system (OKEANOS) SP Systems took over my contract from SES, but this was essentially the same position)
- Design and Implementation of OKEANOS automated satellite data processing system.
- Coastwatch Team Technical Lead.
- Redhat Systems Administration over web servers, anonymous ftp servers, application & development servers.
- Web applications design and enhancement using PHP,PERL,MySQL.
- Created & deployed online mapping applications using University of Minnesota’s Mapserver software and DM Solution’s PHP based MapScript API.
Nov 2001 – Feb 2004
Senior Software Developer, SES Inc. / NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration)
Hired by government technical contractor to develop multi-platform (Linux and IRIX) based applications and scripts to help automate the processing and delivery of environmental satellite data for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Developed and deployed 2nd generation dynamic website at http://coastwatch.noaa.gov to serve as a central Internet distribution point for various satellite data streams.
- Migrated website from static pages to PHP based Templates (And migrated most HTML styling to CSS)
- Authored an automated remote database updates via HTTP using Perl, PHP, and MySQL.
- Upgraded, debugged, and authored numerous web-based applications including user administration, database management, report tools, satellite data search engine, and data integration.
- Administered 7 x86 based Redhat Linux boxes including the coastwatch.noaa.gov website running LAMP stacks.
- Instituted many process improvements including nightly backups, CVS source control, centralized online documentation, and dynamically adjusting firewall rules.
Feb 2001 – July 2001
PHP Software Developer, Buildscape LLC.
Authored PHP applications tied to a massive Oracle database driven e-commerce site serving both desktop and mobile internet-enabled devices. (www.buildscape.com) Developed various applications including a CSR application, shopping cart, and industry-specific builder’s tools. Work included design, implementation, code review, and testing of software.
- Helped re-architect web site permissions to allow web functionality to be separated into several separate applications while maintaining a single point of entry.
- Wrote various complex cross-browser JavaScript applications.
- Upgraded, debugged, and added features to numerous PHP applications covering various industry-specific needs such as materials lists, job tracking, custom orders, and import/export of data.
Sept 2000 – Jan 2001
PHP Applications Developer, iSun Networks Inc.
Authored, modified, and debugged web-based applications including a POP3 email client, NNTP client, address book, online contests, user location map, account signup and creation script, and password hint/retrieval system.
- Wrote an RFC 977/850 compliant NNTP client from conception to completion in PHP.
- Wrote an online contest system in PHP and JavaScript.
- Implemented PHP templates system to allow graphics artists to modify the look and feel of PHP scripted pages without having to modify pages containing PHP code. (Xtemplates)
May 2000 – Sept 2000
Unix Web Developer, RCL Inc.
Hired by .com strategic consulting company to migrate a high traffic, Unix-based web site from an IBM RS/6000 AIX-based server to an Intel-based RedHat LINUX server. Migration involved updating PERL and PHP scripts, converting a database from MSQL to MYSQL, rewriting PHP scripts to access MYSQL database, installing a new search engine (vortex), and cosmetic updates.
- Assisted in web development and deployment of four other NT-based sites including authorship of a SQL search engine.
- Development included ASP and JavaScript, graphics design with Photoshop 5.5, and implementing CSS.
- Installed and Configured RedHat Linux 6.2 web server with PHP, PERL, and MYSQL onsite for site development and testing.

IT&S Assistant LAN Manager, Guilford College
One student every year is competitively selected to assist the Guilford College LAN manager in a yearlong internship in network administration and installation.
- Created and implemented a new security policy for MacOS computers on the network.
- Served as Network Manager of the MacOS Network.

SGI-Unix Lab Administrator, Guilford College
Selected as one of two students to participate in a three-semester internship in local area networking, user management, software backups, and system maintenance in a Unix lab, with 5 Silicon Graphics O2 workstations and an Origin 2000 server, funded by a National Science Foundation Grant.
- Wrote automated shell scripts (Cron based) to backup user files.
- Trouble shot network and hardware problems with SGI workstations and performed basic maintenance including RAM installation and motherboard replacement.
- Configured NFS to use an Origin 2000 server as a password master with another system as fail over. Implemented user quotas on all machines and developed scripts to notify system admin of users close to limit.
- Tested system security using brute force password cracking attacks and SATAN.

One of 11 physics majors selected nationally by the National Science Foundation to participate in an undergraduate research experience at Florida State University.
